This beautiful villa in Houtbaai South Africa was in need of renovation and expansion. The owners also wanted to make this house sustainably energy neutral. The old pool was on the eastern back, while the sea view is on the western side.
The addition of new terraces and an underground garage solved several problems at once. The driveway was very steep and could now be lowered. It also created space for additional guest rooms.
The old thatched roof was replaced with a modern version, with wooden planks on an insulated roof.
Last but not least, the pool and relaxation deck is now built on the west side, with a beautiful sunset in the sea every evening.
